Yesterday I had a very good conversation with a colleague about my project. (Thanks Sheri Gunville. Mind if I call you a colleague?) The idea for my Master’s project is to take a deep look at the distance education (DE) program within our division and then to create a template, vision and organizational structure as to how that would look in the future. Sheri and I talked about who could benefit from this project, to whom it would be addressed and other issues surrounding a project of this sort. I also have some good ideas about where to take this from here and see how that goes.

Each step I take forward in this “adventure” seems to confirm what I want to do and what I think could be beneficial to my division.

I will post more as I work on this, but I think I’m generally headed in the right direction. Many would argue that blogging about what you’re doing is the ultimate “humble brag” (Heard this on DNTO) and a waste of time, but as I think about what’s going on and write about it, I imagine that it could be a good way to reflect on what I learned as I went through the process.

Time will tell.

–> Update. This ecto program seems to work pretty well and $20 is a good bargain for a small software program. I’ll link to it here. Ecto

Well, I start this month on a 10 month journey to finish my Masters degree. Do I have to capitalize that every time I use it? Greg P. would know. Anyway, I presented my project idea for the first time to my fellow ETADers and they feel it’s a good idea. Now to start fleshing out what I’m going to do, who I need to contact and how I’m going to do it. Since all of my graduate work to this date has involved working towards this, I should be more prepared, but I’m hesitating here.

Oh well, time to power through and get on to the real work. Tomorrow I will create a list of preliminary thoughts that I have been ruminating over for the last two weeks and next week I will start attacking that.
